Entry Requirements
- Standard entry is five GCSEs at grade C or above to include Science, Mathematics and English and a suitable reference.
- However, alternative qualifications or experience will be considered on application.
- A minimum of five days work experience in an animal related placement before the course is also required.
English language requirements
If you do not have English as a first language, you will normally be required to demonstrate an IELTS overall score (or equivalent) of:
- 5.5 with a minimum of 5.0 in all elements for a Further Education course
- 5.5 with a minimum of 5.0 in all elements for a Foundation degree, Higher Certificate or Higher Diploma
- 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in all elements for a degree
- 6.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in all elements for a postgraduate degree
If you have lower scores, you may be accepted onto a Pre-sessional English Language course, which can lead to entry to the appropriate programme of study.
Curriculum
Understand and promote animal health, understand the principles of animal biology, undertake animal handling and safe working, undertake and review work experience in the land-based industries, understand the principles and undertake the practice of animal nursing, understand and interpret animal behaviour and communication, undertake kennel and cattery management, understand and undertake wildlife management and rehabilitation.
