Entry Requirements

You should have 4 GCSEs at Grade C or above or equivalent, dual award Science or two single award Sciences, Mathematics and two A Levels, one of which must be in a science subject, relevant to the course. Access to Higher Education (a science route) will also be suitable. Mature students who are in employment in a science area may also be considered.

If English is not your first language, you may need an English Language assessment before enrolling on this course.

Curriculum

You will be introduced to simulations of crime scenes for forensic photography, processing and collection of forensic evidence, such as fingerprints, footwear impressions, hairs and fibres, glass fragments, and tool marks. There are also two further streams which complement the core modules in forensic investigation: Forensic Biology examines the application of general and molecular biology to forensic investigations.

At level 2, you will continue to build on the forensic chemistry and biology by observing how it is applied to forensic casework, for example, in the identification of individuals by blood grouping. The written work will be guided and involve more independent study.
