Entry Requirements
Rated outstanding by OFSTED, this course was designed in partnership with local primary schools to meet the requirements for Initial Teacher Education and provides the perfect grounding for those who wish to teach all areas of the Primary Curriculum.
During the first two years you will follow a broad and balanced programme which lays a secure foundation for the third and final year of study. You will then undertake a Professional Development Research Project (PDRP) in Year 3, which involves some school-based research, investigating an element of a selected curriculum area or theme. At the end of the course you will be equipped to meet the National Standards for the Award of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
On entry, all students follow a common programme, spanning ages 3-11 years during term one. Towards the end of term one, students opt for the 3-7 years or 5-11 years route for the remaining course of study.
There is a Primary Modern Foreign Language pathway in the degree and you can focus on either Spanish or French language and language teaching methodology. Students on this pathway have the opportunity to complete a school experience placement in Europe during the second year of the course. There is also an opportunity to undertake a placement in a special educational needs school for four weeks.
From time to time there are opportunities for other specialised placements in schools. Available full-time only All programmes subject to TDA or CWDC funding or requirements are subject to government changes.
