Entry Requirements

  • GCSE: For all applicants, Grade C or above, or Grade 4 under newly reformed GCSE grading, in English Language and Mathematics, or equivalent. Please note the University does not accept Level 2 Key Skills, Functional Skills or Certificates in Adult Numeracy and Literacy as suitable alternatives to GCSEs.
  • A-level subjects: No specific subjects required. Points from General Studies and AS-Level subjects (not taken onto full A-Level) can be included towards overall tariff. You must have a minimum of two A-Levels.
  • EDEXCEL (BTEC) Diploma: No specific subjects required.
  • Access: Achievement of the Access to HE Diploma; to include 15 level 3 credits at merit.
  • Baccalaureate IB: No specific subjects required.

Year 1

In your first year you will develop an understanding of relevant legal, economic, management and technology principles.

Year 2

The second year focuses on enhancing your understanding of the commercial aspects of development and construction. You will learn how to measure and evaluate the costs associated with construction projects. Other areas covered include construction law and contract administration, development and design economics, construction procurement and business organisation.

*Optional Placement Year

All students are encouraged to spend their third year on placement. The curriculum in the second year includes support finding this placement. Students who undertake a placement year will complete a work based research project.

In the final year, you will apply your skills and knowledge through real projects and problem-solving scenarios. You will also be encouraged to question and critique UK practice and procedures and to make comparisons with European and international practice.
