About University of Brighton

The University of Brighton is one of the most popular universities in the UK. It is a diverse academic community of over 20,000 students in outstanding locations on the south coast of England. Today we have over 2,900 international and EU students enrolled at the university. The rich mixture of nationalities and cultural backgrounds this represents makes the University of Brighton a truly international community.

The University of Brighton takes its name from one of the most diverse, energetic and popular cities in the UK. The university is spread across the city from the seafront to the South Downs and also has campuses along the coast in lively Eastbourne and in Hastings.

At Brighton we take a career-focused approach to learning. We have over 500 undergraduate and postgraduate courses, almost all of which include work-placements and many are recognised and accredited by professional bodies, so that you are ready for your career after university.

  • We offer a wide range of scholarships for international students
  • In the 2015 National Student Survey, 83 per cent of our students said they were satisfied with their course.
  • 92 per cent of our full-time, first degree graduates are working, studying or training within six months of completing their course (Destination of Leavers from Higher Education 2013/14)
  • The University of Brighton is ranked in the top 25% of UK universities for world-leading research impact (Research Excellence Framework 2014)

The University of Brighton is spread across three locations on the south coast of England. It has one of the warmest climates in the UK and the university’s safe and peaceful campuses combine English architecture with modern buildings.

Brighton
Situated on the south coast of England, less than an hour away from London and only 30 minutes away from Gatwick International airport, Brighton is vibrant, colourful and creative – a great place to be a student. Brighton combines the energy and cosmopolitan feel of London with a friendly atmosphere and sense of community. It has a reputation for being free-thinking and valuing different cultures and is known for its exciting cultural, music and social life. Brighton is home to a fast-growing, creative, digital and IT industry and the Lonely Planet rates it alongside Cape Town, Rio and Sydney as one of its top 10 cities with brilliant beaches, describing it as ‘a thriving, cosmopolitan city with a Bohemian spirit’.

Eastbourne
Considered the sunniest place in the UK, Eastbourne is a lively seaside town surrounded by beautiful countryside. The campus is located at the foot of the South Downs National Park and is less than 20 minutes’ walk from the beach. Eastbourne is 30 minutes along the coast from Brighton, and has a variety of bars and restaurants, as well as affordable high street shopping. Eastbourne also has a thriving arts and music scene. Students enjoy the sense of community provided by our friendly Eastbourne campus.

Hastings
