Accommodation

If you don't live in Guildford or the surrounding areas, but want to study at Merrist Wood College or Guildford College we can help you to arrange accommodation. Where you live is a really important part of your life as a student and a good home will help you settle into student life quickly and succeed on your course. Guildford is an excellent place to live and study.

You can choose between living on site in the Halls of Residence
or locally with a family in Homestay Accomodation

  • Halls of Residence

Woodlands and Cobbett are our halls of residence, on site at Merrist Wood College. There are 100 single study bedrooms with shared showers, toilets and sitting room facilities.

  • Homestay Accomodation

In Homestay accommodation you'll be treated as much as possible as one of the family. You will be invited to join the family in having breakfast and an evening meal (included in the cost) and will have a bedroom with a private study area, access to a bathroom and laundry facilities.

Campus

The government set out their definition of British Values in the 2011 Prevent Strategy. In 2014, the Department of Education published guidance on promoting British Values in schools to ensure young people leave school and college prepared for life in modern Britain.

The five definitions of British values are as follows:

  • Democracy
  • The rule of Law
  • Individual liberty
  • Mutual Respect
  • Tolerance of different faiths and beliefs

These new regulations sit alongside the requirements of the Equalities Act, which also applies to all educational institutions.

By Car

The College is easy to get to by road and there is a student car park with limited parking. The College may prioritise parking for certain groups of people. The majority of the roads locally have restricted parking.

Park and Ride Facilities
There are several spacious park and ride facilities in the Guildford area with services operating quite regularly (every few minutes). The park and ride buses drop passengers off at the Friary shopping centre.
