Cyberjaya University College of Medical Sciences (CUCMS) has continued its winning streak by scooping up yet another win, this time the Brand Laureate SME Best Brands Award 2015/16 in the Medical & Healthcare Education category. Organized by the Asia Pacific Brands Foundation, the annual award highlights firms that have committed themselves to their brand promise and have achieved success in communicating this vision to their stakeholders.
CUCMS, a top tier higher education institution has over a decade of experience in medical and healthcare education. Founded in 2005, it currently has an enrollment of 3,500 students in over 20 diploma, degree and postgraduate research programmes in the fields of medicine, pharmacy, psychology, physiotherapy, biomedical engineering technology and more.
Professor Dato’ Dr. Mohamad Abdul Razak, President and Vice-Chancellor of CUCMS who was on hand to receive the award shared his appreciation, “I am proud of today’s win but more importantly I am proud of our university staff and lecturers who made this possible”.
Kalaiarasu Malayandi, the University’s Bursar articulated, the importance of this achievement. “Branding is as much an effort to live up to our student and stakeholder’s expectation as it is in communicating a vision. Today’s win is not just a corporate achievement but rather it signifies the results of concerted efforts by all lecturers, staff, management and stakeholders in enhancing the delivery of quality education to our students”, he said.
Since its takeover by the SMR Group, a public listed company, the university has executed a successful turn-around operation and in recent years have posted growing students numbers and strong financials. It has also moved towards enhancing its standing in the higher education industry through a clear commitment to quality and delivery. It has been rated as a Tier 5 (Excellent) institution by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), a Malaysia Research Assessment (MyRA) rated institution by the Ministry of Higher Education and is a SIRIM certified ISO 9001:2008 compliant organization. It was recently awarded the internationally acclaimed Workforce Optimas Awards 2015 from the United States for the institution’s people focused initiatives.
Moving ahead, the university is looking forward to expanding its range of programmes to meet the critical needs of Malaysia’s fast growing healthcare industry. A new purpose built campus is also expected to be operational by 2017 which will see the university’s capacity double to over 7,000 students.
