Bachelor of Science (Hons) Food Science

About

This programme at UTAR provides students with a strong scientific foundation and hands-on laboratory experience, preparing them to innovate in food production and safety. Students learn the transformation of raw ingredients into consumable products through the concept of "From Farm to Fork." They develop expertise in food chemistry, ingredient interactions, risk assessment, food processing techniques, and quality control—essential skills for producing safe and nutritious food to meet global demands.

The programme also emphasizes new product development, optimization of production processes, and sensory analysis to gauge consumer preferences. Equipped with state-of-the-art food processing and sensory labs, students gain practical experience in formulating innovative food products. Industry visits further enhance their learning by providing real-world exposure, bridging academic knowledge with professional practices.
