Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (Hons)

The Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (Honours) programme at UTAR is designed to prepare students to become highly skilled and knowledgeable early childhood educators. This programme emphasizes the critical role of early childhood experiences in shaping a child's emotional, physical, cognitive, and social development. It provides students with a comprehensive understanding of early childhood education principles, philosophies, and best practices. Students will develop professionalism, ethical conduct, and practical teaching skills, ensuring they are well-equipped to nurture and support young children's growth. Graduates of this programme will be able to make a meaningful impact in early childhood education settings, fostering positive learning environments for preschoolers' future success.

• STPM: A minimum of Grade C in any 2 subjects.
• STAM: A minimum grade of Jayyid.
• A-Level: A minimum of Grade D in any 2 subjects.
• UEC: Grade B in 5 subjects.
• SAM: Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) 70 and Grade B in any 2 subjects.
• CPU: An Average of 70% in any 6 subjects
• International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma: Diploma with a minimum of 24 points (excluding bonus points).
• Foundation from UTAR: Minimum CGPA of 2.00.
• Matriculation / Foundation from other Institutions of Higher Learning: Minimum CGPA of 2.00.
• Diploma in Early Childhood Education (Level 4, MQF) or its equivalent: Minimum CGPA of 2.00.
• Diploma (Level 4, MQF) in any field or its equivalent: Minimum CGPA of 2.00.
• Other equivalent qualifications recognised by the Malaysian Government.

English Language Requirements

• Malaysian applicants with STPM/UEC/qualfications not conducted fully in English must have a Credit in Englsih language at SPM level / Grade C in O-Level English / Grade B in UEC English / MUET Band 3 / IELTS Band 5.0 / TOEFL 40(iBT)/7.5(Essentials) / PTE 47 / Cambridge English 154/100(OET) / ELS CIEP Level 107 (NOT applicable for A-Level/SAM/CPU or entry qualifications conducted fully in English BUT must have a pass in English language at SPM level / equivalent).

Note: Those who do not meet the above English Language requirements but obtain a pass in English language at SPM level / equivalent are required to take the English Enhancement Programme and pass at the English Levels 7 & 8 before joining the Bachelor's degree programme.

• International applicants must have a minimum of IELTS Band 5.0 / MUET Band 3/ TOEFL 40(iBT)/7.5(Essentials) / PTE 47 / Cambridge English 154/100(OET) / ELS CIEP Level 107 / equivalent (NOT applicable for entry qualifications conducted fully in English or students from countries with English as official language BUT must have a pass in English language at SPM level / equivalent).
