Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Design Communication

The 21st-century communication designer goes beyond crafting visually appealing content for print and digital media—they also innovate new channels to effectively deliver messages to target audiences. This programme nurtures passionate and creative thinkers with a strong foundation in communication and information design, emphasizing both traditional and emerging design trends. Students engage with historical and contextual research while exploring cutting-edge design, technology, and digital media. Beyond honing individual creativity, the programme fosters teamwork and networking skills through collaborative projects. Graduates will receive dual certification from Sunway University and Lancaster University, enhancing their global credentials in the field of communication design.

STPM

• Average C or CGPA 2.0 (Minimum 2 principals) and a credit in SPM Bahasa Melayu

Specific Requirement for Certain International Students

International students from certain countries that want to take some Sunway University degree programmes (for example programmes in partnership with Lancaster University) will need to take and pass our online six-month International Preparatory Programme (IPP). This is a requirement to enrol on a Sunway degree programme that also leads to a degree awarded by Sunway’s partner institution. Students are required to pass all the subjects with a grade C and above to progress to the degree programme.

Portfolio Requirements

• Why is a Portfolio Necessary?
  • A portfolio provides some indication of your ability in design and allows us to assess your creative potential.

• The portfolio requires a minimum of 5 artworks which show variation and usage of different mediums and applications.

• Candidates should portray an array of artworks ranging from (but not limited to) paintings, drawings, sketches, collages and digital software applications.

• It is highly recommended to have at least 5 drawings (still life, landscape, perspective, figure drawing, portrait and such) and a further 5 artworks could be a combination of photographs, poster designs, videos, animations, logo designs, sculptures etc of choice.
