Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health
About
legislative compliance, boosting productivity, increasing efficiency, and improving overall morale within an organization. As industries evolve, new health risks continue to emerge, including occupational pollutants, toxic substances, and workplace injuries. Occupational safety and health is a field dedicated to safeguarding the well-being of individuals engaged in various work environments. The primary goal of occupational safety and health programs is to create and maintain safe and healthy workplaces. Additionally, these programs help protect not only employees but also co-workers, employers, customers, and others who may be impacted by workplace conditions.
Occupational safety and health is a specialized branch of public health focused on the impact of workplace exposure factors on employees' health and overall well-being. The global healthcare industry has an increasing demand for skilled occupational safety and health professionals who can address modern workplace challenges. The Occupational Safety & Health Act 1994 mandates that industries employ competent safety and health officers to manage and resolve workplace safety concerns. These professionals are responsible for enforcing legal requirements, offering technical guidance, and providing safety and health education.
Graduates of SEGi College’s Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health are equipped to work as Safety and Health Representatives, including roles such as Site Safety Supervisors and Assistant Safety Managers, in both government and private sector organizations. Additionally, they may pursue careers as Occupational Health Control Officers or Research Officers in the field.
