Entry Requirements
To be eligible for the award of Master of Social Work (MSocW), a student must acquire 180 credit points as prescribed below:
- gain 170 credit points of core courses; and
- gain 10 credit points for a Listed Field of Practice elective.
Students who have previously completed one or more of the following courses or equivalent in their undergraduate program will be exempt from completing these courses in the Master of Social Work program. Alternative coursework (approved by the Program Convenor) will be substituted in order to achieve the requirements for the Masters degree.

The courses listed below are designated for the purpose of the University Policy on Academic Standing, Progress and Exclusion. A student who fails a designated course will be subject to review by the Griffith Health Assessment Board and may be excluded from the program.

- Social Work Field Placement 2
Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Level and Type
- The Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) is the national policy for regulated qualifications in Australian education and training. This qualification is accredited as an AQF Level 9 - Masters Degree (Coursework).

Students must complete the following courses:
- Foundations of Social Work Practice (offered at Gold Coast only)
- Social Work Field Placement 1
- Social Work Field Placement 1
- Social Work Theory for Practice
- Interdisciplinary Professional Ethics (only offered via off-campus study)
OR
- Ethics and Professional Practice
- Foundations of Research Inquiry
- Contemporary Debates in Social Work Practice
- Listed Field of Practice elective (also offered via off-campus study)
Year 2
Students must complete the following courses:
- Human Services : Law and Social Policy (also offered via off-campus study)
- Applied Counselling (only offered via off-campus study)
OR
- Counselling Individuals and Families
- Advocacy and Leadership
- First Australians and Social Justice (Advanced) (offered via off-campus study or at Gold Coast only)
- Social Work Field Placement 2
